Aside from the unique Lanna architecture, the first thing you notice about Baan Taotanu is the vast elevated veranda that is equal in size to the interior living area. The most striking feature in the middle of this open, uncovered area is the crow’s nest or lookout perch. Accessible only by an attached ladder, this playful covered sitting area is reminiscent of a tree house. Great ocean views and cool sea breezes may make this your favourite spot for relaxing with a cool tropical drink, a good book, or an afternoon nap. The entire front of the house is made of louvered glass doors, which open up to the interior. Floor to ceiling panels of dark stained wood create an elegant, yet welcoming ambiance. Centred against the back wall is the king size bed with matching woodenhead and footboards. A minimalist approach is taken to other furnishings to maximize the interior space. The bathroom, accessible from both the bedroom and veranda, also incorporates Lanna tradition. The stylized circular sink, reminiscent of a washbasin, rests on a wooden vanity. Black stone floors accompanied by unadorned walls complete the design. A simple shower and western style toilet are the only modern amenities in this classic bathroom.
