Description:
Baan Lucy's design is both simple and elegant; practical yet stylish. Traditional local building materials like the thatching for the roof contrast the intricate wood carvings throughout the house. The liberal use of indigenous wood, both polished and with natural matte finish, add to Lucy's complexity. Lucy (along with her sister house Robin) are built among a patch of Rak Taley trees. Instead of clearing the area, these large old growth trees were integrated into Lucy's design. Baan Lucy exemplifies what Golden Buddha Beach Resort is all about.

Stairs lead up to Baan Lucy's ocean facing veranda, because the entire structure is built upon stilts. The roofline extends over the spacious veranda completely covering it from the elements. The front and two sides are open for great sea views. A unique bench, made from long single boards, forms the railing.

Inside Baan Lucy is warm and welcoming. Shelving displays local handcrafts, art adorns the walls, and long polished planks of hardwood make up the floors. Shuttered windows on all sides provide the option for privacy or to completely open up the house to the tropical sea breeze. A good night's sleep is assured on the king size bed.

Baan Lucy's spacious bathroom keeps with the simple and elegant theme. Large cuts of stone are liberally used throughout (making up the walls, floor, shower, and sink counter). This is paired with more natural hardwood for the floors and vanity unit. A western style toilet completes the spacious and well appointed bathroom.

Just completed in January, Baan Lucy boasts a large private covered sala. Not just for Yoga enthusiasts, this is also a great place to relax with a good book or watch the sunset over the Andaman Sea.

Baan Lucy is an excellent choice for a couple or an individual traveler who want comfortable accommodations right on the beach. Paired with its sister house, Baan Robin, and you have a beach compound perfect for two couples or a family. Families with young children, however, may prefer a more protected and enclosed home not directly on the beach. The house's location makes it particularly exposed during the high surf and strong winds of the monsoon season. During the sunny days of the rest of the year, Baan Lucy's covered veranda and the large tropical trees provide both cooling shade and extra privacy.
