Description:
Baan Mangorn is actually a beach front compound. Two large natural wood houses are ingeniously connected by a sprawling veranda and elevated walkways. The multi-level veranda closest to the beach wraps around the house and includes both a covered area and an open deck for sunbathing. The veranda on the second house is slightly smaller but offers its own superb ocean view as well. Many pieces of hand carved wood furniture are strategically positioned throughout.

The natural thatched roof and liberal use of tropical indigenous wood create an island house with character, luxury, and style. The wood walls on both houses have a matte finish while the matching floors are polished to a brilliant shine. Integrated shelves are incorporated into the walls' design, some left empty for your possessions while others display handcrafted ceramic and wood pieces. Evenly spaced vertical boards, lining the tops of the walls, provide excellent ventilation with a simple yet sophisticated geometric design.

The far house has the larger of the two sleeping rooms with a king size bed. The house closest to the beach has two single beds. Both houses have their own spacious matching bathrooms. Multiple shades of blue ceramic tile complement the dark stained wood. Parts of the bathrooms are completely covered while the other halves are open for functionality in the hot tropics (yet complete privacy is achieved in this well thought-out design.) Western toilets, showers, and vanity units with large wall mirrors complete the bathrooms.

The larger of the two houses has a recently added downstairs room, as well. Equipped with a double bed and its own private bathroom, this is a great choice for teenagers or as a nanny's room.

Recommendations:
We recommend Baan Mangorn to families, groups of friends, or two couples traveling together. Some families with very young children may find the elevated verandas and close proximity to the ocean to be problematic. Also this house can be exposed to the elements during the heavy winds and strong surf of the monsoon season. Aside from these two caveats, Baan Mangorn is an exceptional choice for luxurious and comfortable beach front accommodations.
