Description:
Practical and purposeful in design, Baan Marina is a beach house that makes liberal use of both large open spaces and lots of natural indigenous wood. This elevated house has an open air sala that is equal in size and splendor to the inside sleeping quarters. Protected from the elements by a thatched roof, all sides of the sala are open providing excellent sea breezes and even better sea views. The entire second story is constructed from wood while the ground floor walls and support are white stucco reminiscent of Mediterranean architecture.

From the veranda you enter Baan Marina through double glass doors. In fact the entire front of the house is made from floor to ceiling sliding glass doors. Here, you will wake up every morning to the site of clear blue waves lapping against the golden sand.

Inside the house are two separate bedrooms, each with private access to the sala and bathroom. The interior design makes use of exposed natural wood and continues with the theme of practicality. Side windows with rattan blinds in both bedrooms offer great views and added privacy. One bedroom is considerably larger and has a king size bed. The other bedroom is designed for a single bed.

The spacious and practical bathroom makes use of ceramic tile and more stained wood. A large shower, western toilet, sink and vanity unit complete the design.

Recommendations:
Sister house to Chang, but slightly bigger to accommodate the second room. Also slightly behind and to the right of Chang to maximize the ocean view. The house's location, however, makes it particularly exposed during the high surf and strong winds of the monsoon season. This is an excellent choice for a family with a single child who want separate bedrooms and to stay close to the beach. Also a great choice for two or three friends traveling together.
