Although called Sunflower House, Baan Tarntawan could equally be called The Tree House perched as it is on its great stilts, overlooking the Andaman sea. The stairs from the garden lead to a large covered veranda almost equal in size to the sleeping quarters inside. An integrated bench runs around the open space on three sides.
From the veranda a ladder leads up to the loft, set up with cushions, and opened up to the sea view. This is a look out, and a nice place to nap away the afternoon. One of the particularities of the bedroom on the first floor is the unique sliding door construction used for the front entrance and two opposite sides of the house. These can pushed right back to ensure maximum ventilation, or be partially closed to allow privacy. Inside the bedroom, the bright yellow back wall celebrates the sunflower theme and injects a clean modern look in this classic Thai beach house. High ceilings and hard wooden floors set the tone.
Above the main entrance, a beautifully carved sunflower panel lets the breeze into the house. Cantered against the back wall is a king size bed with an integrated mosquito net. Matching night tables are positioned on either side of the bed. On the far left side of the room a short hallway extends to the bathroom at the back of the house. The bathroom’s black stone floors complement Baan Tarntawan’s modern style. The walls go up to neck level for maximum privacy and are open at the top for excellent air circulation.
A cool shower complements this truly tropical designed bathroom. A western style toilet and vanity unit completes the bathroom.
The closest house to the clubhouse with a fabulous surrounding view, Baan Tarntawan is a tall house designed for singles or couples.
