Baan Manam is set well back from the lane, which makes it at once really private, and with one of the best seashore access. It is well constructed and the combination of modern building materials used for the base, contrasting with the more traditional wooden first floor accentuate the sense of contemporary design.
With the deep purple and dark green paints used for the foundations, the house successfully appears to float amidst the vegetation that closely hugs it. Baan Manam is built on a simple and very effective symmetrical floor plan, with two matching wings articulating out on either side of a main veranda. The veranda doubles up as one covered living space at the rear of the property, and juts out into a sun deck at the front. The front garden comprises mainly of a lawn to maximize sea views. The bubble chair hanging from a casuarina tree on the beach provides a dreamy and romantic retreat from the world.
The house is accessed from the garden by a central wooden staircase. Louvered doors fully open up on either side of the veranda to provide stunning, unobstructed views from inside the house. Guests can lounge there in great comfort using the modern rattan furniture suite, or sunbathe on one of the sun loungers. The two bedroom suites are accessed directly from the covered part of the terrace, and both benefit from effective design. All around, shuttered floor to ceiling windows allow guests to control the amount of sunshine, sea breeze, or privacy they require. The design consists of simple beautiful natural hardwood floors and wall-panelling affixed on deep magenta walls.
There are ceiling mounted fans in both bedrooms above the bed, as well as in the living area. The living accommodation is very well thought out throughout, with ample easy access storage provided in both bedrooms. More natural wood and stone flooring comprise the matching bathrooms in both wings. Cleanly fitted ceramic tile surround the shower. Western amenities and a large wall mirror complete the bathrooms, which also boast a large Thai ‘ong’ or water jar.
With its two identical wings Baan Manam is a very private beachfront villa ideal for two couples, or families with older independent children.
