Baan Mangorn is more fittingly described as a beachfront compound. Two large natural wooden houses are ingeniously connected by a sprawling veranda and elevated walkways. The multi-level veranda closest to the beach wraps around the main house and includes both a covered area and an open deck for sunbathing. The veranda at the front of the second house is slightly smaller but more elevated, and also offers a superb ocean view.
The cedar shingle roofs blend well with nature and the liberal use of tropical indigenous woods throughout creates an island house with character, oozing natural luxury and style. The wood walls on both houses have a matte finish while the matching floors are polished to a brilliant shine. Many pieces of hand carved wooden furniture are strategically positioned and enhanced with wonderful patterned fabrics. Integrated shelves are incorporated into the walls’ design to display handcrafted ceramic and antique decorative objects.
Evenly spaced vertical boards, lining the tops of the walls, provide excellent ventilation via a simple yet sophisticated geometrical design. The master bedroom on the lower level boasts a large king size bed, whilst in the second house the main bedroom comprises two single beds which can be combined to form one double bed. Both master bedrooms enjoy spacious en-suite bathrooms, decorated with colorful tiles to complement the dark stained wood used for the floors. As in most other houses on the resort, parts of the bathroom are left uncovered to benefit from the tropical garden environment. Western toilets, showers, and vanity units with large wall mirrors complete the design of the bathrooms.
The smaller of the two houses has a recently added downstairs bedroom equipped with a double bed and its own private bathroom. This third bedroom opens directly onto a garden area leading to the beach. This is a great choice for teenagers or as a nanny’s room.
The largest beachfront villa, Baan Mangorn has a very spacious feel and its linear construction offers wonderful sea views. It is well appointed and would be perfect for larger families or groups of friends.
