When is it best for Scuba Diving and where do you go?

  • There may be great conditions from late November until mid April for scuba diving and snorkeling. We offer trips to world-class diving locations in the Andaman Sea like the Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock (famed for the regularity of Whale Shark sightings). The dive and snorkeling trips are organized as full-day events, leaving in morning and returning to Golden Buddha around 5:00pm in the afternoon. Please note that there is no diving or snorkeling from 1 May to 1st November.
  • To learn about scuba diving instruction right from our beach, please visit our partners website Blue Guru Diving and Conservation.
  • NOTE: operators licensed by the National Park service carry out all diving and snorkeling.  Trips operate based upon weather conditions, demand and operational support.  We regret that we cannot assure specific dates in advance.

What other interesting places are there for us to visit near Koh Phra Thong?

  • In addition to the Surin Island Marine Park you can experience the unique environment of Thailand’s mountain rain forest in Khao Sok National Park that is only one hour drive into the mountains east of Kuraburi.  Many guests love to combine the natural experience of Beach and Jungle.   • Blue Guru can also arrange liveaboard & day trips to Similan Islands from Khao Lak before or after your stay at Golden Buddha.

Is it necessary to book activities with Blue Guru in advance?

  • The following activities are organised subject to minimum numbers, involve chartering of transport or purchase of materials, so must be booked before arrival:
    - National Park diving & snorkeling day trips
    - Diving courses & try diving
    - Koh Ra rainforest trekking with Lions village visit
    - Mangrove boat trip with Tah Pae Yoi village visit
    - Savanna tractor ride with Thung Dap village visit
    The following activities can be booked with Blue Guru during your stay at the resort and paid for in Thai Bhat cash only:
    - Local diving & snorkeling
    - Kayak & snorkel kit rental
    Yoga & spa treatments can also be booked during your stay and added to your Golden Buddha bill.
  • N.B. All divers must complete a medical questionnaire before diving, so it is advisable to obtain this form from Blue Guru in advance. There is no doctor on the island, so if a diver has any listed medical condition, they should obtain their doctor’s signature on the questionnaire before arrival.
