Weather at Golden Buddha Beach
Thailand is best described as tropical for the majority of the country during most of the year. Golden Buddha Beach is positioned 500km south of Bangkok where the climate is determined by two seasons – the wet and the dry.
October – April: Dry Season
Golden Buddha is only open through the dry season from October – April.
The dry season is characterised with predominantly light to moderate northeast winds. November is the coolest month of the year, with day temperatures of 28 – 30ºC, and nightly temperature are regularly 5 – 7 degrees lower.
Temperatures gradually rise from November until May with very little rainfall experienced during this period. In January, you can expect temperatures of 30 – 33 deg C, in April temperatures can climb up to 35 deg C accompanied by occasional downpours usually late in the afternoon.
May – September: Wet or Monsoon Period
Golden Buddha is closed from May to September.
The monsoon season on the Andaman coast is characterised more by high seas and strong breezes than the amount of rainfall. Generally the monsoon starts in May and lasts through until October by which time the seas have returned to normal. Rainfall during this period generally consists of one heavy downpour in the afternoon, followed by very clear skies. During this time islands in Burmese waters 100 km from Golden Buddha are visible from the beach. It is also possible that it rains much of the day for 2-3 days at a stretch but this is more common in June and September.
