Sleeps: 2-6 Adults in two king size beds and one double bed, or 4 single beds and one double bed
Exterior Design: A beach front house with two matching wings connected with a common veranda. Each wing also has its own private veranda and bathroom.
Interior Layout: 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Two master suites, each with combination living/sleeping area. One room also has a loft with a double bed.
Location: About 12 minutes to the clubhouse and 25 meters to the beach.

Description:
Baan Tonsai has two nearly identical matching wings. Connecting the two independent structures is a long covered common veranda with a small pantry (with a sink and gas ring for making hot beverages.) A tree lined pathway leads to the middle. From here you can access either wing or continue through to the other side directly to the beach.

Each wing also has a private beach front veranda just outside its own entrance way. Louvered doors fully open up to the verandas providing stunning, unobstructed views from inside the house. Inside either room, you will find natural hardwood floors complementing wood paneling on deep magenta walls.

All around, shuttered floor to ceiling windows dictate the amount sunshine, sea breeze, or privacy that you choose. Fans mount to vaulted ceilings above king size beds in both houses. These beds can also be transformed into 4 single beds if required. One of the bedrooms has a double bed in the loft that is only accessible by ladder.

More natural wood and black stone flooring comprise the matching bathrooms in both wings. Cleanly fitted ceramic tile in shades of blue and turquoise surround the shower. Western amenities and a wall length mirror finish the bathroom which also has a large Thai ‘ong' or water jar.

Recommendations:
Baan Tonsai is the perfect beach house for two couples or friends traveling together. Each bedroom has a good degree of privacy, yet the communal veranda and connected design create a feeling of togetherness. This also makes it an excellent choice for families with teens or older children. Families with young children may prefer a more protected and enclosed home not directly on the beach. The house's location makes it particularly exposed during the high surf and strong winds of the monsoon season. For the rest of the year, though, Baan Tonsai is an excellent choice for a larger group who want to stay side by side and right on the beach.

"Baan Tonsai is my link to Thailand , where I was based for 4 fantastic years! Faced with the prospect of moving to Geneva in 2000, I decided at the very last minute to buy a plot of land at Golden Buddha Beach Resort, so that I could continue my link to this wonderful part of the world. Planning and arranging for the building of Baan Tonsai was a great pastime over about a year. I wanted for it to be a simple house, giving good views of the Andaman Sea and the jungle behind the house, and allowing for easy spotting wildlife. One of the rooms is a bit bigger, because I thought I could set up a desk there facing the sea and do some ‘inspired' writing or reading, … but as things turn out, there is never any time for such activities, because there are always too many distractions – stick insects to be amazed at, hornbills and drongos to admire, tokay to keep an eye on, dolphins to spot, turtle tracks to watch out for, the cricket chorus to listen to at dawn and dusk, tropical flowers to examine and so on. And of course, the wonderful sunsets viewed from the veranda, the beach or from the sea, where a twilight swim can be the perfect star to the evening. I hope that visitors will enjoy the house as much as I do."
