Carolina Smilas Carolina Smilas was our resident Yoga intructor during the 2008 high season at Golden Buddha Beach Resort. Carolina spent her childhood in Africa and Cyprus, and trained as a dancer in classical ballet and contemporary dance with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).She was first introduced to yoga whilst living in Buenos Aires, and went on to practice over the next 7 years before becoming a certified instructor in India. She taught in Thailand, spending 2 and a half years co-managing an holistic island retreat combining her skills with yoga and meditation, chakra work, reiki, aroma and crystal therapies. After a break in the UK, Carolina returned from London to be the in-house yoga instructor at Golden Buddha Beach Resort.
The ancient Indian tradition of yoga teaches us to look at the body as a whole. Through regular yoga practice, we le arn to inter-connect and find a balance between mind, body and emotions. Consequently, we are gradually made aware that certain habitual movement, posture, alignment patterns and behaviour may be contributing elements to any tension or “dis-ease” we may be experiencing in our lives. Using her intuition and a gentle hands-on guidance, Carolina 's classes incorporate fluid sequences while synchronizing breath with movement. This serves to both stimulate and restore energy levels whilst instilling an inner harmony and sense of balance and strength, a world away from the stress and pressures of modern day living. As you progress, you will find yourself becoming more able to take control of, and positively influence your own health, happiness and overall well-being
As a complement, Carolina offers Reiki therapy, a Japanese technique that balances the body's energies, promotes healing and relaxation, and is a further source of relief from stress whilst improving the body's immune system. Having traveled and worked worldwide, Carolina has had interaction with people from all walks of life. Welcoming all levels and abilities, her sessions will leave you feeling calm and relaxed, yet focused and with a sense of empowerment, ready to face any challenges both on and off the mat. | |
